Final Project Watercolors- Nev

I'm not one much for long comments, but here I go:

The most striking thing about this image is the gas mask and the jagged ends of the scarf for me, and just how they pull everything along behind them. It pulls your eyes to the right, following the motion of the whole thing, wondering where she's going. Nev herself is eye-catching, but what makes it most interesting and intriguing is the small feminine aspects (the slight curve we see for her shape, the slight body, the hair) contrasted with the heavy, masculine aspects (the dark coat, the jarring gas mask, the directness and implied urgency of the posture) are able to balance out perfectly, neither outweighing the other.

I'm also in love with the small details. The curl to the wisps of hair, the folds in the scarf, and just your shading. Watercolours always impress me, and you manage them really well here.

Something else I'd like to add is Nev definitely carries across as dangerous here. Even with the urgency in the motion, the feel of running, chasing, escaping, moving, the arms are relaxed and the head is resolutely pointed forward. Not worried, not relaxed, but fitting her name. It has the feel of an inevitable force coming your way.
