OH GEE, WHAT ODDLY FAMILIAR MONSTERS :iconteheplz:

Oh god this page. I love it so much but never have I hated a comic page more. It is my great success and my hideous failure. Most of it I think came out just fine and really had fun doing.
But that middle panel. That damn middle panel. I spent two hours doing the shading on that panel only to realize:
... It's too complicated.

There is way, way too much going on. All of it is necessary (I needed the bed to show the monster coming from under it, I needed to show Anna cowering on the bed, I needed to show both monsters...) but it's still far too much. I actually will admit to doing some digital editing on this panel to see if I couldn't make the characters "pop" from the background a little more. And I'm really rather sad it didn't work out, because I think some of my best shading was done on this panel and just got... Lost, really.

Other then that though, I am very happy with this page.

Also. The monster from under the bed. He deserves your love. Doesn't he seem like he deserves love?

Probably the best page in an extremely well done comic. The amount of shading in the middle panel makes the main action scene stand out. The monster under the bed is heavily shaded but it softens gradually after the danger passes.

What really stands out, though, is the amount of expression. The one with the most expression is actually the monster in the toy box with the mask. The props of his bag, hat and movement of his body leaves no question for the audience. The bag is held in first panel as if a mouth in a grin and it widens for the capture in the second. The hat is tilted to give the impression of his eyes widening in the third and narrowing in the fourth.

Just as quickly as it begins, it ends with the focus back on the little girl.

Great movement, shading, expression and eye for detail!
